Saturday evening, Wes Lyons who is the author of “The Pursuit With Patience” teamed up with Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for a charity event. The event was held at the Pittsburgh Winery located in the strip district area on Penn ave.
The event was such a success as many came out to help support the CF Foundation. As you entered the winery you were given the option to have complimentary wine and dessert options for the donation you gave. The atmosphere was elegant but yet relaxing as everyone talked amongst themselves while listening to live music.
There were familiar faces that were present such as Emmanuel Sanders and Baron Batch from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Along with Ryan Mundy who recently was traded to the New York Jets and a mix of others.
During the event there was a raffle for different prizes that were donated to help raise money. Some of the participants that donated prizes were The Fairmont hotel, Triangle Restaurant, Starbucks, and The Improve. There was also a silent auction for art work by Baron Batch and a chance to win a Steeler practice camp package. All the proceeds that were raised that night were given directly to the CF foundation.
Baron Batch was generous enough to donate 2 pieces of art work that he painted himself. The two pieces was apart of his “Star” series. He shared with us that he has always liked looking at the stars since he was young. Batch said he remembers thinking “If they can be great, then so can I.” That is the mentality we should all have. Never stop short of greatness. Always work towards being great. You can see more of Batch’s artwork at baronbatch.com.
Overall, this event was a grand way in spreading the word about CF and educating others on how they can help. Once again, I would like to congratulate Wes Lyons for planning a wonderful event with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation!
