A couple of days ago Ed Reed was released from the Houston Texans after Reed delivered the harsh comments about the team. Once the Texans released Reed on Tuesday it became questionable as to if Reed would play in the NFL again but the Jets proved that to be wrong.
Safety Ed Reed and the New York Jets reached an agreement Thursday on a contract after waivers were cleared Wednesday afternoon. Reed will rejoin with Rex Ryan as he once played for the Jets coach when Rex was the defensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens from 2002-2008.
Ryan once called Reed “the best safety that’s ever played.”
The Jets announced that Reed will practice with the team on Thursday. Reed should fit right in as he is familiar with Ryan’s system and will be reunited with a former Raven Dawan Landry.
It has been reported that Reed will be available for the Jets’ game Sunday against the Bills. The Jets also will play the Ravens the following week.
Reed receives another chance to live up to his name as being one of the best safety’s in the league.
