Once again the Redskins suffered an embarrassing loss as they were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles. It is bad enough that they have an embarrassing losing record but what makes it even worse is that the referee from the game Sunday also disrespected the team verbally. Redskins left tackle Trent Williams said the official verbally abused him during the team’s 24-16 loss in Philadelphia on Sunday, calling him a “garbage-ass, disrespectful mother(bleep).
William claims that he did nothing to the official that would provoke him to verbally abuse him. Williams identified the official as number 81 which was Roy Ellison.
“To me, this is a players’ league,” Williams said. “I just don’t think there’s no room for you to have to take that from the team and the refs. I think it’s very unprofessional. It sucks. I don’t know what else — I’m at a loss for words. You never expect that, as a player, going into the game to have to beef with the refs also.”
Regardless of how bad a team is playing, no official should feel the need to make any negative remarks to a player. The NFL will investigate this matter as actions like these are unacceptable.
