Let’s all imagine we are a Steelers player who is active on the roster making millions of dollars. Would you decide to take the risk to smoke marijuana two hours before you had to catch a flight to your job?
Well I guess two of the Steelers running backs did not see the harm in that until they got caught. Yes, two hours before the two running backs, Le’Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount were to board the flight to Philadelphia, they were pulled over because the officer smelled weed coming from the car. Both were arrested for possession but Bell was also charge with a DUI. There was a female companion in the car as well but no one really cares what happened to her because she isn’t a multi-millionaire who plays for the Steelers.
So moving on.
Since Bell was charged with a DUI as well he missed the chartered flight to Philadelphia and provided his own transportation to Philadelphia.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin met with the players Thursday morning as he decided how to proceed, and a source says that it will be “business as usual” for Bell and Blount because the Steelers have a lot to work on offensively.
We could go back and forth and argue it is just weed but let’s not forget that the substance is still illegal. Remember, the Steelers traded Santonio Holmes who caught the Super Bowl winning touchdown because of marijuana found in his system. So, I am sure Bell and Blount are scared for what may happen to them even though no actions have been taken as of now. The choice to either smoke an illegal substance or risk losing your job is not a hard decision no matter how much you make.
The choice is yours fellas.
